Dad’s Garage:
Minding Your Corporate Business
Founded in Atlanta in 1995, Dad’s Garage is a world-renown, non-profit comedy theatre company specializing in improvisation. For over twenty years, we’ve partnered with companies and individuals to teach them how to apply universal skills through an improv lens to achieve their business imperatives while boosting employee morale.
The Power of Improvisation
Acceptance, listening, collaboration, and creativity are core improv (and business) principles.
Here’s why:
Acceptance is arguably the most important skill in improv. Things are constantly changing. Acceptance allows us to make the most out of the worst situations and create a space free of negative judgement. The less there is, the less we fear.
Listening is number one in our hearts. It is the key to understanding and accepting what another person is communicating. Listening to understand, not listening just to hear.
Collaboration is the difference between a team and a group. We make each other look good by adding on to an idea different than our own.
Creativity is what happens when we fully accept the ideas of others. We rediscover a sense of play and ask ourselves “what if…?” We can try all ideas while still maintaining a safe space for creation.
